1. Craft an outstanding resume summary that showcases your strengths
Every real estate agency or firm knows that you want the job. What they don’t know is why they should hire you. That’s where a convincing resume summary comes in. A resume summary is a great way to quickly show a potential agency why they should invest more time into reading the rest of your real estate agent resume and potentially hire you.
A successful resume summary for the real estate industry should highlight the following information:
- Your licenses
- How many years of experience as a real estate agent you have
- Your key expertise
- Any major professional accomplishments

Note that the candidate immediately mentions the type of real estate (sales and residential areas) they’re most familiar with. Real estate agencies want to know what type of sales you’re experienced with and prefer to hire agents with local knowledge of the surrounding area so that they can better serve their customers.
Additionally, your resume summary is a great place to highlight your accomplishments. Notice in the example, the candidate showcases their expertise in planning and integrating customer campaigns. They also back up their accomplishments with hard numbers. Using numbers gives the hiring manager a clearer picture of the impact you had at your previous firm.
Finally, if you’ve received any awards, it’s great to mention them in your summary as well. Our realtor was a recipient of the top 6% of Nevada Sales Award. Awards are only received by the best real estate agents and will impress the hiring manager.
2. Action verbs for a real estate resume
Ultimately, your success as a real estate agent depends on the actions you take to close a sale. That’s why using action verbs to describe your experience is an essential part of writing your real estate resume.
Action verbs are great at giving the hiring manager a clearer picture of the impact you made at your previous agency or firm and make you look like a more decisive, proactive employee.
Using verbs such as “responsible for” or “tasked with” don’t convey authority or initiative, nor do they help the reader grasp what you did. However, using verbs like “negotiate”, “advise” or “prepare” paint a clearer picture of the scope of your duties on the job as a realtor.

First, the candidate mentions that they can sell houses, averaging at 15 annually. Providing the number of transactions gives the agency an idea about the total scale of your ability to close deals.
Second, the candidate uses hard numbers to show that they weren’t only completing transactions, but also maximizing earnings by increasing sale prices by an average of 16%. Increasing property value and maximizing sales profits is always great to mention, as the extra cash goes to both the agency and the real estate agent.
Finally, our candidate shows that they are a leader and a team player by conducting quarterly seminars and training sessions for fellow agents to improve their sales techniques. Any training you have conducted as a real estate agent is great experience and shows hiring managers your previous firm believed in your skills and abilities.

4. Make your resume stand out with your real estate agent skills
As a real estate agent, you’ll have many diverse responsibilities. A successful agent has to be adept in a variety of skills, such as:

- Negotiating deals between buyers and sellers that can also lead to the need to resolve conflicts
