I am so into all things interiors right now. In fact, I always have been; I remember wandering around homeware shops and department stores with my mum when I was little proclaiming “When I grow up I’m going to have my house like this”, “I’m going to have this in my house” etc etc. It’s always been something I’ve been hugely interested in, counting down the years (and the pennies) until I was able to explore my creativity and passion for interiors for real.
Whether it was rented rooms whilst living at university or in London, decking out an entire flat in the centre of Manchester or more recently with our first house in the suburbs, each home has been a process, a process I have wholeheartedly LOVED with every inch of my being, perhaps even more so than my days styling models in the fashion industry, there's something about interior styling that is just so cathartic.

So it’s safe to say that when DFS got in touch and asked if I would like to give designing and styling up my own “show home” space a go, I jumped at the opportunity!

A rich palette, luxurious textures and fun a plenty, here is my finished space, a living room not all too dissimilar from mine at home.
I based the room around The Edd sofa from the all new So Simple range at DFS. The Edd is one of eight designs from the new range, a range that aims to take the stress out of sofa shopping once and for all.
With just eight affordable designs within the collection it’s easy to find the perfect style for you whether you’re a first time buyer or you’re renting. With just three steps in the process and with super speedy delivery (from just FOUR weeks!) It’s a really rather joyous experience, a far cry from the usual sofa buying rigmarole. First up you choose the style of your sofa, secondly your size whether it be a two or three-seater, and finally choose your fabric from a huge selection of colours and finishes! I of course went for a delicious deep mustard velvet for a real dose of luxury against the retro design of the Edd sofa. With it’s rounded edges and little wooden legs, the Edd is my favourite from the collection but I am rather partial to Mya, Guy and Viv too.

I wanted the walls to be a deep charcoal shade to really allow the mustard colour to pop and to be the focal point of the room. Incorporating more colour and textures with the rug, an additional armchair from DFS (also from the So Simple range) in the most beautiful teal shade, contrasting cushions and lashings of greenery as we all know how much I love my house plants. I also thought it would be fun to include a clothes rail of colourful pieces as I take a lot of inspiration from my wardrobe when it comes to interior styling too, in my opinion the two are so closely linked. It’s a really dramatic yet totally relaxing space, the perfect place to get cosy in on an evening. I now want to get decorating our little living room again as the interior bug is well and truly back in business!

I know from your feedback that it's often quite scary to be this bold when it comes to buying furniture but I say go for it. If you prefer something a little paired back then simply keep the walls a soft white shade to allow your statement sofa to do the talking. I'm a firm believer in taking chances, particularly when it comes to your home so if you want the bright yellow velvet sofa then you go for the bright yellow velvet sofa 😉 you'll work it out so that it works for you and your space whether that's in a rather dramatic way like me or more understated yet still totally gorgeous, there's so many ways to make a statement sofa work.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on my lil room set up as I truly adored working on this project with DFS. Which is your fave sofa? And would you go bold like me or keep your room a little more muted?

This is great! I totally have the interiors bug too. I recently bought the French connection Zinc sofa from DFS which has a similar retro vibe and I love it! I like how you have managed to use so many different colours but got them all to compliment beautifully, I can totally see the inspiration from your fashion choices as well. Great job!! More interior inspiration please!

Love your choice of colours, they all blend so well together. I bought the EDD sofa after reading your blog. I’ve not been able to try it out for myself due to no DFS near me having one. I hope it’s as comfy as it looks in your pics. I went for the grey wool look but I will be buying a velvet blush pink coloured accent chair too, it’s for my garden room, I’m going for a grey, blush and botanical green colour palette. xx

          Hi Valerie and Megan,
I’m considering buying the EDD 2 seater, but without being allowed to try it for myself and no online reviews, i’m looking for some answers about its comfort. particularly the back rest without any cushions.
Can you please shed some light on its comfort?

          Thanks,
          Archer

    Hi
I was wondering if anyone has had the Edd Sofa and how good it has been in terms of quality and lasting.

I like the leather look but I’m worried about the material and whether the designer of this sofa could comment please.

I do love the sofa but worried on how it will turn out as there are not good reviews from DFS
