Dog Friendly Vacation Rentals Outer Banks Nc – We love to travel, but the hardest part has always been leaving our two dogs behind. When we are not on vacation, we are 100% with our dogs Chloè and Coco Chanel. For our big vacation this year, we wanted to do something we’ve never done before – take a vacation that the whole family can enjoy with our dogs!
Every morning, we hit the Corolla beaches before the crowds and walked at least two miles up and down the beach before settling into our spot on the sand. During our walks, Chloè and Coco dipped in and out of the water chasing each other, their balls and even the fish. This was a great way to get our girls in some light exercise early in the day and then we would all relax in the sun for the rest of the morning. While enjoying the warm rays of the sun and a few cold beers on the sand, Chloè and Coco Chanel rested in the shade under our beach umbrella.
Most days, we kept our beach time with the dogs under four hours. We never spent a full day at the beach with our little ones. This allowed us all to spend some time together at the beach each morning, and then Jared and I would explore the Outer Banks together in the afternoon either by bike, foot, or in our truck. Even in October, the afternoon sun can be too much for our old girls. Plus, there were a lot of stairs to climb on the trip home, and our girls don’t do stairs very well, so we never wanted them to be too tired to make the trip home.

We packed everything we needed into our truck and headed to the 4×4 beaches of Carova with our girls.
Our girls love to relax in the bed of our truck after a good swim on the 4×4 beaches of Carova. It allowed us to keep them from the beach traffic and their sandy feet away from our blankets and beach chairs. Meanwhile, we sat on the sand watching the motorized gliders pass over us.
There are a number of dog-friendly restaurants to be found from Corolla, Southern Shores and Duck, to Nag’s Head, Kitty Hawk and beyond. Many of these dog-friendly restaurants offer special menus just for your little ones. As a special treat, they also keep dog bowls on hand to keep everyone hydrated.
Physically located at 797 Mercury Rd Corolla, NC 27927 in the private community of Buck Island, Tangerine Dream is a beautiful vacation home located just steps from the ocean. This pet friendly beach house has five bedrooms, four full bathrooms, a half bathroom, an indoor pool and an incredible outdoor deck throughout the home. Jared and I really enjoyed the evenings under the stars in the hot tub at our house, steps away from the ocean. Meanwhile, our girls loved relaxing on the many multi-level wrap around decks provided by the house.

The master bedroom and the third floor bathroom were very nice. The bed was big, the closet was also big. We really enjoyed all the outdoor living areas – the many patios and decks. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the area day and night.
We loved cooking a full breakfast each morning in our fully stocked kitchen with pots and pans, cookware, dinnerware and dinnerware, and then enjoying our delicious meal on our rooftop patio overlooking the ocean. The home’s high ceilings and large windows let in plenty of natural light, and the fireplace in the main living room was a nice feature in the evenings.
We really fell in love with the Buck Island community. The community seemed very calm and peaceful. We’re not sure if this was just because it was off season or if it’s always like this, but we really enjoyed the peace and quiet and how pet friendly the neighborhood was. It’s conveniently located near the beach and Timbuck II, and those were the two biggest selling points for us.

Dogs can play loose on the beach, although they must be under the watchful eye and control of a guardian. Dogs are allowed on Duck Beach all year round.
Dogs are only allowed on the beach from 18:00 to 09:00 from May 15 to September 15. Dogs must be leashed at all times when off personal property.
Dogs are allowed on public beaches. From the Friday before Memorial Day to the day after Labor Day, between 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 p.m. dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet. At all other times during the year, dogs must be kept on a leash that extends up to 12 feet. Dogs can only be off leash if they do not disturb other people on the beach. Off-leash dogs must be supervised by the handler, who must remain within 30 feet of the dog at all times. A leash must always be with the owner/caregiver.

Dogs are not allowed on the beach between May 15 and September 15, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., unless they are service animals. Otherwise, dogs are allowed on the beach, supervised by a lead handler.
Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round as long as they are kept on a leash no longer than 10 feet, held by a person who can physically control the animal.
Dogs are welcome at Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Your pet must be on a 6′ leash at all times and pets are prohibited inside any fountain enclosure.
